Prehospital Care at Terrorism & Large Scale Incidents

Purpose of the Prehospital Care at Terrorism & Large Scale Incidents course:

• The student is aware of the dangers surrounding a deployment involving terrorism within both small and large-scale incidents;
• The student is able to provide proper assistance in the event of a terrorist incident, regardless of the type of terrorism;
• The student has knowledge about the possible injuries and therapies in any type of terrorism;
• The student can flexibly apply the GGB response plan in case of terrorism;
• The trainee is aware of the influence of (social) media during a relief effort within a terrorist calamity.

Target group:

Policy staff, Crisis coordinators, Operational staff, OvDG's, Ambulance nurses;, Ambulance drivers, Nursing specialists, ACGZ and MKA operators.

• Terrorism: lessons learned over the last 10 years;
• Terrorism trauma versus regular trauma;
• GGB task cards & terrorism;
• Forms of terrorism;
• Explosives, shooting incidents, shock, Thorax drainage;
• Theory chestseal and tourniquet;
• Hospital lockdown;
• CBRNE;
• LPA 8 & Major incident;
• DSI;
• Dillma's!

Faculty:

The trainings are given by experienced trainers in the field of prehospital care, triage and treatment of trauma victims. These trainers all work in acute care and have multidisciplinary experience as an officer on duty and/or have a military background. In addition to modern equipped theory and scenario rooms, we have both an indoor and outdoor area where various aspects are practiced realistically. During the training the participants have access to an extensive set of resources and materials to make the setting as realistic as possible. For the training we make use of various learning methods, including the teaching learning conversation by means of propositions and dilemmas. In addition, the training consists of skills education, table-top exercises and scenario education.
